Imagine walking in the new clinic space and seeing individuals laying hands on the walls, audibly praying, a few others have their Bibles open, transcribing scripture onto the wall and a few more are standing back in thankful admiration. This beautiful image was witnessed right here at Lubbock Impact last week. The two laying hands on the walls are participants at Lubbock Impact, having received care from The Free Clinic when they were sick and now have found community in the weekly Bible studies. A few more are donors of the Foundations of Healing at Lubbock Impact—the ones who have given significant financial gifts that will help in sustaining the new clinic. Many others walk through, taking it all in, praising God for what He will do in this space in the many years to come.

On Tuesday, March 4th many participants, volunteers, and donors gathered for the Clinic Blessing Night. The sole purpose was to thank God for His provision of funds to renovate the clinic, ask the Holy Spirit to be present in the clinic and pray and write scripture on the walls as the foundations of healing are put into place. This space will bring the hope, empowerment and healing that many patients will need in the days and years to come.

Just over a year ago, in February 2024, Lubbock Impact was granted $1 million through ECHO West Texas for the purpose of renovating the medical clinic space. What were once old choir rooms turned into lab space, large closets that became exam rooms and makeshift walls that were placed for a pharmacy, has become a space specifically designed for serving the medically uninsured.

For 16 years, the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center’s The Free Clinic made do with what we had available and so humbly and diligently served those in need, one day a week. As we near the finalization of the renovated space, the excitement is built to be able to host clinic multiple days a week, serving even more of the medically uninsured that are seeking hope and healing.

The beauty of the Clinic Blessing Night was evident for all to see. Donors standing next to participants united in Christ for the purpose of lifting this clinic to the King of Kings. As you read this, we ask that you also lift up a prayer for The Lubbock Impact Clinic, for provision, the volunteers that will serve in this space and the many that will be served.
