September 18th, 2025, marked a monumental day in the story of Lubbock Impact. It was a day filled with joy, reflection, and deep gratitude as we celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of our Foundations of Healing Medical Clinic.
For more than 15 years, Lubbock Impact has walked alongside those in our community who are uninsured, underserved, and often unseen. Through a long-standing partnership with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, The Free Clinic has faithfully provided free medical care to uninsured adults since 2009. Each Wednesday evening, medical professionals and students have volunteered to care for patients on a walk-in basis, providing not only treatment, but also dignity and compassion.
As the need for accessible healthcare in Lubbock continues to grow, the Foundations of Healing Clinic represents the next chapter of that mission. Funded by a $1 million ARPA grant administered by the City of Lubbock and ECHO West Texas, the newly renovated clinic space will allow Lubbock Impact to expand medical services to multiple days each week. The Foundations of Healing Clinic will now provide care by appointment, offering services such as acute care, chronic condition management, and education for those navigating diagnoses. All of these services are completely at no cost for adults without insurance.
To finally see the doors open and patients walking through has been a beautiful fulfillment of years of prayer, planning, and perseverance. With over 56,000 uninsured adults in Lubbock County, the Foundations of Healing Clinic stands as a tangible reminder that hope, and healing are still within reach.
The grand opening ceremony was filled with heartfelt celebration. Community leaders, donors, church partners, and friends gathered to witness the unveiling of the renovated space and to reflect on how far this vision has come. Mayor Mark McBrayer, who grew up attending Trinity Baptist Church, the very church that once occupied this building, shared touching remarks about seeing the space reborn with purpose and compassion.
During the event, we were so excited to honor the founding donors whose generosity and faith helped bring the Foundations of Healing Clinic from vision to reality. We were thrilled to present each donor with a plaque during our recognition ceremony, a small token of appreciation for their big-hearted commitment to serving others.
The celebration continued with an open house for community and church partners, who were invited to tour the clinic and see firsthand the space where healing can happen. Many shared their excitement to now have a trusted place to refer those they serve who are struggling to access healthcare.
Since opening its doors on September 2nd, the Foundations of Healing Clinic has already served 40 patients and offered health education classes that have brought in 28 individuals. Together, they fall in line with the heartbeat of Lubbock Impact’s mission: to offer hope, empowerment, and healing.
It was a day filled with celebration- not only for achievements already made, but also for those that lie ahead. We are profoundly grateful to the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce for hosting the ribbon cutting, and to every volunteer, donor, and partner who helped make this vision a reality. The Foundations of Healing Clinic is more than just a renovated space, it’s a renewed promise, a prayer answered, and a new beginning for countless lives in our community.
