As Lubbock Impact continues to steward what we’ve been given, and serve our neighbors well, we’re grateful to welcome two incredible new servant hearts to our team. These additions come at just the right time, and already, they’re making a beautiful difference behind the scenes and face-to-face with our community.

First, we’re so happy to introduce Ida, who joined Lubbock Impact as our receptionist back in December. After retiring from 35 years of work in HR and Social Services, Ida wasn’t ready to stop serving; she was simply looking for the right place to continue using her gifts. Having been raised in a “working poor” family herself, Ida felt an immediate connection to Lubbock Impact’s mission and found purpose in the work happening here. In just a couple short months, she’s become an invaluable part of our crew, greeting every caller with intention and kindness and helping us better connect with and serve our Spanish-speaking participants.

When asked what surprised and encouraged her most since joining Lubbock Impact, Ida shared:

“I was immediately surprised and encouraged by the small but mighty team of leaders. When I became aware of the volume of programs, events, love, and prayers offered from leaders AND volunteers to Lubbock Impact participants, I was amazed!”

For Ida, the heart of Lubbock Impact is felt the moment someone reaches out or walks through the doors. She says:

“When people call or walk through our doors, I know they will be welcomed, loved, and prayed for. The love of Christ runs deep here at Lubbock Impact.”

We’re also excited to share that as of early February, Jayme has joined our team as our new Clinic Director. Jayme has been shadowing and learning from our current Clinic Director, Diane, who stepped into Lubbock Impact during a pivotal season as we opened the Foundations of Healing Medical Clinic and strengthened both our no-cost dental and eye clinics. From the very beginning, we knew Diane would be with us for just a year, and while we’re so sad that season is coming to a close, we’re grateful that she’ll continue volunteering with us by helping connect optometrists in the Lubbock community to further solidify the eye clinic ministry.

Jayme has truly been a sponge, soaking it all in. With over 25 years of experience as a respiratory therapist, she felt a clear calling to step into this role when the position opened, and we’re so glad she did! When asked what has surprised and encouraged her most since joining Lubbock Impact, Jayme shared:

“I have definitely been surprised at just how many opportunities are available here to create a lasting and positive change for someone.”

Her heart for compassionate care is evident in the way she shows up for each patient. Jayme describes compassionate care as:

“…empathy and love that EVERYONE should come away feeling from us, without any judgment.”

These additions have come at the perfect time. Lubbock Impact has been blessed with so much, and our desire is to continue serving our community in the best ways possible. Because of Ida and Jayme, Lubbock Impact is a little brighter, runs a little more smoothly, and our neighbors can be loved on just a little more, and for that, we are deeply thankful.
