Happy New Year, even though we are already a couple of weeks in! This is a season filled with opportunities and unknowns that will unfold throughout 2026. Some see this time as a clean slate, a chance to consider new options, while others are still deciding how to move forward with decisions carried over from last year.
I will admit that 2025 personally held some incredibly good days and some very sad ones, especially when I lost my dad in April. The holidays looked different and yet, there were also new and meaningful memories made. Laughter and sorrow have a funny way of blending together.
My story mirrors many at Lubbock Impact, reflecting both joy and sorrow. We lost several dear friends who had been a part of Lubbock Impact for many years. They struggled physically until the Lord healed them in heaven. Now their families are learning to find a new rhythm in life, and our staff and volunteers have surrounded them, providing meals, offering support, and helping navigate what comes next.
There were also others who have faced multiple needs and yet continue to stand up and move forward. The resilience I see in individuals and families reminds me of the Scripture: “…we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed…” 2 Corinthians 4:8 (NASB). We know where our hope comes from. Life may be hard at times, but in 2026 we will keep seeking the Lord’s wisdom and His unfailing love.
Lubbock Impact continues to move steadily alongside those we have been called to serve. The outpouring of donations and financial blessings at the end of the year will help keep us on track for the start of this year to continue meeting the needs of those seeking support in their hardest moments. I am always amazed at how the Lord provides- through a child selling handmade crafts, a hot chocolate stand, or a farmer giving from his bounty. The Lord uses those who are willing to serve their neighbors, and our role as staff is to steward those gifts wisely to care for others and build the Kingdom of God.
This past Thursday, 92 participants shopped for their households in the food pantry, representing more than 250 individuals. There was enough food to meet every need. A woman who needed a coat found one that fit her perfectly, and a patient was able to receive the medication she had been praying would be available for her chronic illness.
Regardless of the many opportunities and unknowns may unfold in 2026, may the Lord find each of us faithful because we know He will not allow us to be crushed, despairing, forsaken, or destroyed. Lean into the Lord and trust that He has good things planned for you. Join us as we seek to go deeper with Christ this year at Lubbock Impact.
