It’s official… summer is here! With recent temperatures surpassing 100 degrees, we’ve seen an increase in individuals seeking food, water, shade, and good company – all of which we’ve been happy to provide! ❤️

June has been such a fun and fruitful month here at Lubbock Impact. The first Children’s Activity Day was filled with laughter, games, and Bahama Bucks snow cones. We are so grateful for Kurbside Treats and Bahama Bucks for providing a cold, sweet treat for the kids. The Children’s Activity Days will continue every Wednesday until August 11th.

Texas Ag provided a pallet of water bottles that will obviously be put to good use for those on foot who need a cold bottle of water + kids playing during activities, and volunteers working hard throughout the Lubbock Impact building this summer. We are so grateful! Thank you, Texas Ag.

This month, we also began our Coffee and Conversations ministry, which provides a place for older adults to come in to visit with others. Many of these individuals have expressed how lonely they felt during the pandemic and wanted to have a chance to fellowship together. What a great use of our Coffee Hall! ☕️

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been blessed to have so many volunteers helping us prepare for Lubbock Impact to be fully open.

  • FaithBridge, a youth group from Houston, has been here most of the month, running the Children’s Activity Days and installing flooring in the Dental Clinic, with help from Zane Young, who is working on his Eagle Scout project.
  • The fifth graders from St. Luke’s Methodist did an excellent job in packing pastries for families and tackling several projects around Lubbock Impact.
  • And we can’t forget the National Charity League’s mother-daughter teams – they’ve helped in a variety of ways throughout the week.

“Thank you” doesn’t seem to fully express the gratitude I have for you and your connection to Lubbock Impact. When you pray, serve, or give to the ministry of Lubbock Impact, you are helping someone in our community to feel the hope that only Christ can provide. This ministry would not exist without the commitment you make to your community.

“If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.” – 1 Peter 4:11
