Remember being in school and saying goodbye to your friends for a long holiday break?
And then that first day back when the hallways buzzed again, the lunchroom felt alive, and you were met with hugs, laughter, and a hundred versions of “I missed you”?

That’s what Lubbock Impact feels like during our first week back after the holidays.

Lubbock Impact is powered by volunteers who love this community deeply and show up week after week to serve others. Because our ministry runs on the hearts and hands of our community, we pause during the last two weeks of the year. It’s time for our volunteers to rest, spend time with family, and refill their own cups after pouring so faithfully into others.

When the first full week of January arrived, our Lubbock Impact family came back together.

Volunteers swapped stories filled with Christmas laughter, family moments, and cried over lost ones. Participants who share weekly dinners were reunited around the table, picking up conversations as if no time had passed. And the number of hugs — we may have even set a world record.

Moments like these remind us that Lubbock Impact is about so much more than meeting basic needs. It’s a place where community is built, where cups are filled, and where hope is received.

And we are so glad to be back together!
