January has a way of sneaking up on us with its cold, and this year, Warmth Night couldn’t have come at a better time.

For months leading up to it, long before the temperatures dropped, members of our community were already thinking ahead. Since the beginning of fall, hats, scarves, gloves, blankets, and other winter essentials have been dropped off at Lubbock Impact. Some came from businesses, some from churches, some from organizations, and many from individuals who simply wanted to help their neighbors stay warm.

What those generous givers don’t always get to see is what happens next.

They don’t always see the woman who lights up when she finds a winter hat in her favorite color, or the mom who pauses for a moment when she realizes the gloves are small enough to fit her baby’s tiny hands. They don’t see families carefully picking out a blanket, holding them up, feeling the weight, deciding which one will work best for cold nights at home. They don’t see the relief when someone learns that yes, there is a space heater available, and they’ll be able to take one home.

But we see it and share it. And it never gets old.

These are the moments that remind us of why Warmth Night matters. Warmth isn’t just about layers and blankets; it’s about dignity, comfort, and being cared for. It’s about knowing that someone thought ahead and made space for your needs.

Warmth Night is possible because our community shows up again and again, choosing to share the blessings that they have received. Warmth Night is possible because those generous donors trust Lubbock Impact to steward those gifts well and place them where they’re needed most.

And on a cold January night, that generosity was turned into warmth that was shared, felt, and deeply appreciated.
