As I was waiting for my coffee a few Wednesdays ago, the barista asked about my plans for the day. I shared that I work for Lubbock Impact and that we would be hosting our weekly Community Meal that night.

Her expression immediately changed, and she revealed that she was once an active participant at Lubbock Impact. She expressed gratitude for the role it played in getting her back on her feet.

As she handed me my coffee, she proudly said, “Look at me now. I’ve come a long way.”

She then said, “Lubbock Impact was there for me when I needed them.”

In that moment, I was struck by the power of how God is working at Lubbock Impact. We are making a real difference in the lives of those in our community who are struggling with physical and spiritual needs. This work is not easy. Sometimes, people only need us short-term, and others need us long-term. Regardless, Lubbock Impact is privileged and committed to continuing this important mission of supporting the working poor. By God’s faithfulness, we continue to see restored stories in the lives of our participants.

As we move forward in 2023, my prayer is that God will deepen and widen our current relationships and any relationships God brings to our doors. Would you please pray alongside us that people would hear the Gospel presented to them at Lubbock Impact? Pray that people not only find help and healing in their basic needs but hope and healing in Jesus Christ.
