Over the last 16 months, with our doors partially closed due to COVID, many would assume that our impact in the community has been smaller. However, the opposite is true! If anything, the impact has been greater.
Now that the “drought” has passed, it’s time for Lubbock Impact to flourish again. Many seeds have been planted with individuals and families that have never experienced the fullness that Lubbock Impact has to offer. And some have never been inside the building!
Currently, we are making changes to expand our programs to Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This will allow us to focus on relationships and help the families we serve think through their needs before asking for resources. Still, our goal is to help alleviate the effects of poverty on the working poor. To that end, we will offer programming that equips individuals to better assess their own needs and empower them in their life choices.
As we re-open, our prayer is to get to know the families that have moved into our community over the last 16 months and welcome back old friends of Lubbock Impact.
On Thursday, August 12th we will have a Re-Open House at Lubbock Impact, and we would love for you to join us. At 4:30 PM, the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce will be doing a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and then at 5:30 PM, we will dedicate a bench in memory of Rory Thomas. Following will be opportunities to hear about programming and see all the upgrades made during COVID to better serve families.
As all of the ministry programs open, I hope you will consider coming to join us to serve. You can visit our volunteer needs section on our website see all the opportunities and get connected this August.
Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support that help us share the love of Christ to the Lubbock community.
