Lubbock Impact is a faith-based nonprofit that has been serving the Lubbock community since 2007. We have been on a mission to empower the working poor by providing enrichment programs and resources to meet physical, spiritual, and emotional needs. This provides the hope and tools to break generational poverty and build a stronger future. Lubbock Impact comes alongside individuals to help in the areas of food, clothing, healthcare, spiritual care, and enrichment programs.

Notes from our Executive Director

When a gift is given from the heart, you just feel special. I have the unique opportunity to see gifts given from so many perspectives here at Lubbock Impact. Last week I was the recipient of a very thoughtful gift from a participant that I will call “Ann”. Ann regularly joins us at our weekly Community Meal and comes to other programming throughout the month.

My favorite spot to be on Tuesday evenings for Community Meal is at the bottom of the stairs leading into the dining hall. This gives me the opportunity to greet every participant as they come in for dinner. There are usually lots of smiles, hugs and quick updates about what has happened during the week. I get to follow up with those that have a prayer request or question about programming and it’s also the first welcome I get to have with someone visiting the Community Meal or Lubbock Impact for the first time.

As Ann made her way downstairs last week, she had a huge smile on her face. I noticed the crocheted headband on her head to keep her ears warm and then I saw her outstretched hand holding a green crocheted beanie. Ann quickly told me that she made this beanie for me because she thought that I “surely need to keep my head warm!” It was expertly made and an instantly treasured gift! What makes it so special is that she thought of me and made the time to craft a warm beanie to meet a need in my life.

Every single day I get to see this full circle of genuine care play out at Lubbock Impact. We were greatly blessed during the month of December with so many tangible items that will carry this ministry through the next month. The tangible gifts from December and the End of Year giving we received make it possible for us to be prepared for needs during the winter months when giving is typically lower than normal. Many volunteers helped serve in the extra events we had at the end of 2024 and there were very special moments of care that participants provided to other participants and staff; each serving one another with what they have. That gift many times is a smile, a word of encouragement or a prayer.

This year I find myself eagerly anticipating what the Lord has planned for Lubbock Impact. The renovation of the new medical clinic is underway and with that comes a lot of planning and preparation. We have a Faith & Finance class starting on January 21st that I have the privilege of teaching, and I am looking forward to participants’ having knowledge that empowers their financial decisions. I look forward to seeing participants’ lives restored as they overcome strongholds in their lives. May this year be filled with hope, empowerment and healing!
